چکیده

Confocal laser scanning microscopy (CLSM) has been introduced in clinical settings as a tool enabling quasi-histologic view of given tissue, without performing biopsy. It applied to many fields medicine mainly the skin and analysis cancers for both vivo ex CLSM. In CLSM involves reflectance mode, which is based on refractive index cell structures serving endogenous chromophores, reaching depth exploration 200 ?m. proven increase diagnostic accuracy cancers, melanoma non-melanoma. While histopathologic examination gold standard diagnosis, alone addition dermoscopy, contributes reduction number excised lesions exclude melanoma, improve margin recognition lentigo maligna, tissue sparing excisions. Ex can be performed fluorescent mode. Fluorescence confocal “real-time” pathological freshly specimens purposes evaluation clearance after excision Mohs surgery. Further prospective interventional studies using might contribute knowledge about its application, reproducing real-life settings.

Corneal In Vivo Confocal Microscopy: Clinical Applications.

In vivo confocal microscopy (IVCM) has become a widely accepted imaging technique to study the human living cornea. It provides a unique opportunity to visualize the corneal tissue at the cellular level without damage and longitudinally observe its pathologic and normative changes. With rapidly evolving technology, there has been an abundance of interest in maximizing its potential to better un...

Variations of the Normal Human Limbal Stem Cells Detected by In Vivo Confocal Microscopy

Background  To report normal variations of the limbal structures using in vivo laser scanning confocal microscopy. Methods: This was a retrospective study of fourteen eyes from 11 healthy individuals. Confocal imaging of cornea and limbus was performed using Heidelberg Retina Tomograph III Rostock Corneal Module. Results: The typical structure of the palisades of Vogt (POV) was detected ...

Ex vivo confocal microscopy of human corneal nerves.

AIMS To evaluate the distribution, morphometry and the postmortem changes of the central and peripheral human corneal nerves by exvivo laser-scanning confocal microscopy (EVCM). METHODS 24 eyes from 14 cadavers were retrieved at different time intervals after death and examined by EVCM. Five regions were examined in each eye: central, superior, inferior, temporal and nasal. In each region, co...

Fibered confocal microscopy of bladder tumors: an ex vivo study.

BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE The inadequacy of white-light cystoscopy to detect flat bladder tumors is well recognized. Great interest exists in developing other imaging technologies to augment or supplant conventional cystoscopy. Fibered confocal microscopy offers the promise of providing in vivo histopathologic information to help distinguish malignant from benign bladder lesions. We report the ini...

Ex vivo laser confocal microscopy findings of cultured Acanthamoeba trophozoites

PURPOSE The purpose of the current study was to investigate ex vivo laser confocal microscopic findings of cultured Acanthamoeba trophozoites obtained from Acanthamoeba keratitis patients. METHODS Eight cultured samples of Acanthamoeba trophozoites from eight eyes of seven patients (mean age, 26.9 years; age range, 18-52 years) were used. Seven samples were from corneal scrapings of Acanthamo...
